Rebekah Cammack is a Seattle-area visual artist whose practice explores social perception, subjective reality, and the tensions that emerge when individual realities intersect. She draws on direct experience, philosophical inquiry, and sustained independent study to investigate how people perceive, construct, and inhabit their understanding of the world.

Her work has been exhibited in juried and curated exhibitions at Gallery B612 and Confluence Gallery in Washington; Verum Ultimum Gallery in Oregon; and the Brownsville Museum of Fine Art in Texas, among others. Her work has appeared in Studio Visit Magazine and Presence Journal. In 2024, she received an Honorable Mention from the Brownsville Museum of Fine Art's International Juried Art Show. She holds a BA in Philosophy from Seattle Pacific University.

I make work that explores subjective realities and what happens when they intersect. My studio practice moves between study, contemplation, and expression, drawing on direct experience and cross-disciplinary investigation to consider how reality is perceived, experienced, and assigned meaning.

I am interested in the variability, permeability, and fluidity of subjective reality: how perception, belief, emotion, and experience shape the realities we inhabit, and how those realities in turn affect one another. We enter one another's fields, transmitting and absorbing ways of seeing. I am particularly interested in the tensions that emerge when realities meet, compete, or attempt to reshape one another, and in the power dynamics that emerge when one person's understanding of reality is given greater authority than another's.

I use painting and symbolism to explore aspects of human experience that resist literal language. The human figure is central, as the questions I am looking at are embodied and lived. These beings exist within landscapes that function as both physical and symbolic spaces, giving form to the unseen forces and tensions between them.

My process is slow, layered, and intuitive. I work with the materials and through the images rather than toward predetermined conclusions, allowing symbols and forms to develop through sustained engagement. This is my way of seeing and understanding experience: a sensory language capable of holding what cannot be fully articulated in words. Through this process, contradictory or inconsistent realities can remain present at once, including aspects of experience that remain beneath or beyond conscious explanation.

I do not make to resolve these tensions, but to enter them fully. Through this experience, I look for ways forward within contradiction: ways to remain fully ourselves while encountering realities that may differ profoundly from our own, and to sustain connection without requiring one reality to surrender to another.
